Survey Milton rural residents on garbage collection services A survey of rural resi- dents in Milton not currently receiving waste collection services from Halton Region will be con- ducted to determine if they would like to receive road- side garbage collection. They will be receiving the surveys via the mail the week of Nov. 10. Residents are encour- aged to respond to the postage paid survey, as the results will be used by Milton Council to deter- mine if once a week garbage collection services are to be provided to all rural households. Rural residents would pay for this service based on their property value as- sessment and at the same tax rate that urban resi- dents pay for garbage collection service. On August 13, Halton Regional Council ap- proved a motion to close and remove all Rural Re- cycling Depots in Campbellville (located at Guelph Line and Campbellville Road be- hind the Fire Hall) and Brookville (behind the Nassageyweya Commu- nity Centre) and to implement roadside blue box collection for all rural residents. "The Rural Recycling Depots were becoming costly to maintain and there were various chal- lenges such as illegal dumping that were in- creasingly difficult to control," said Patrick Murphy, Commissioner of Planning & Public Works. An open house will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at Nassagaweya Community Centre, Brookville, from 4:30 to 9 p.m. to provide residents an opportunity to speak with Regional and Town staff. If Milton Council de- cides to implement roadside garbage collec- tion in the rural areas, the service would occur once a week. The results of the survey are scheduled to be presented to the Milton Council in December 2003. Loox Wuo's 90!!
