Was Raymond Ashmole, the Headmaster murdered because he was such a blatant philanderer? His wife Nancy made it frightfully clear to anyone who would lis- ten, that she was bitter about his skirt-chasing ways and showed little remorse when he collapsed and died during the Founders Day Banquet. When the police arrived, in the person of Inspector Plank, all breathed a sigh of relief as he immediately took charge and began to gather clues and ques- tion the suspects to determine who might have poisoned the reviled Headmaster. But alas! As the suspects were struggling to decipher the Inspector's broken Eng- lish (we think he was Italian), another murder was commit- ted. And as the second murder victim, Grant Browning the Head Boy, was unceremoni- as PT) Four D's Pets Pets and Suppl 197 Main St. S Rockwood, ON. 519-856-4246 We now carry MURDER MYSTERY: Cast members include Kathy Sanford, Shiona Watson, Mark Tiller, Laurence Whittaker, Julia Guthrie, Sean Ryan, Margaret Brady and Mark Guthrie. -- George Henderson photo. ously dragged from the ban- quet hall, the rumours and accusations began to fly! This hilarious Murder Mys- tery held in Acton's old Fire Hall last Saturday was the sec- ond fund raising collaboration of Heritage Acton and the Acton Old Town Hall Dinner Theatre group. Laurence Whittaker, as Inspector Plank kept the audience in stitches with his creative "Italian" accent, which many times had to be translated by one of the "teachers", to which he would indignantly respond "Dats -- a-wodda-said-d"! The dentally-challenged Emest Stevens (Sean Ryan) was a prime suspect, as was his haughty wife Fifi (Margaret Brady) although some felt the scheming Bursar Kendal Pilkington (Mark Tiller) was the murderer. In the end, Inspector Plank appealed to the audience toassist him in solving the crimes, with each table presenting their suspect(s) and reasoning. Congratulations are extended to Heritage Acton and the Acton Old Town Hall Dinner Theatre for an interactive and very enter- taining evening and Tanners Restaurant for a delicious tradi- tional English meal complete with Yorkshire Pudding. Judging by the audience's response, the evening was a resounding success. Tom Chudleigh... Continued from page 5 leader in the innovative use of modern approaches to dwarf and high density tree fruit pro- duction, revolutionary pruning techniques and integrated pest management all of which have had a significant impact on the efficiency of the Ontario apple industry. In addition, he led the iden- tification and development of value added and alternative marketing methods to the tra- ditional wholesale market. He redefined "Pick Your Own" farm marketing and introduced "Entertainment Farming" more recently known as "Agritourism". Through his dedication and commitment to on-farm sales, growers became price setters and not price takers. As a result, an increasing percentage of On- tario's apple production is sold direct to consumers on the farm. Tom demonstrated the ben- efits of producing innovative value added products on the farm and taking them to local, national and international mar- kets such as the USA and Japan, the marketing association noted. His branded products such as "Apple Blossoms" were born in the farm-kitchen and with de- tailed attention to food safety standards found ready accept- ance by local consumers before being commercialized for broader markets. Tom Chudleigh is also rec- ognized for his ability to motivate the apple industry and for sharing his expertise and insight with producers for the benefit of the entire industry. He has given freely of his time to a host of students, produc- ers and community organizations, especially the Ontario Farm Fresh Marketing Association.
