Players who wish to try out for AMHA Rep Hockey teams must be registered before they can be allowed onto the ice for tryouts in April. Players who are not registered either due to incomplete information or non payment of fees will not be allowed on the ice until such time as they have completed the registration process. *The amount of the final instalment may be altered. The Tri-County League is contemplating removing the collection of Play Off Gate Fees. If Gate Fees are eliminated then the loss in Gate Fee revenue must be added on to the Registration Fee (approximately $50). A reduction in Registration Fees of up to $50 may also occur depending upon the success of summer Fund Raising efforts. The higher AMHA 2004 -- 2005 Registration Fees are due to the significantly lower than budgeted revenues from Fund Raising events for the past two years. This year, Registration Fees will cover the majority of operational expenses. es SY Se Tuesday April 13 NOVICE ATOM PEEWEE BANTAM MIDGET Tuesday, April 20 NOVICE ATOM PEEWEE BANTAM MIDGET 10:00 pm ursday, April me NOVICE ATOM PEEWEE BANTAM MIDGET Age Groupings 6:00 pm 7:00 pm 8:00 pm 9:00 pm 10:00 pm 7:00pm 8:00 pm -- 9:00 pm 10:00 pm Novice born '96, Atom born '94-'95, Peewee born '92-93 Bantam born '90-'91 Midget born '87-'89 All tryouts will be held at the MoldMasters SportsPlex in Georgetown. UAL GENERAL MEETING IRL PALL Acton Community Centre 7:00 pm AWARDS BANQUET April 16,2004 Royal Canadian Legion ieCill CeRIR ZL Didn't vote for councillors to take away vets' rights To the Editor, When I voted in our local elections I did not -- repeat NOT vote for the local gov- ernment to take away the rights of the veterans to smoke in the Legion. I am not a smoker -- as a matter of fact I suppose am anti-smoking -- in as much as I don't like the smell. So I suppose most would as- sume I would applaud the anti-smoking bylaws. Nothing could be farther from the truth. It comes down to freedom -- are we, or are we not, a free soci- ety. Of course not. Pretty well everything we do -- over 90 per cent any- way --- is controlled by government. How did gov- ernment get the FREEDOM to pass laws? Through vet- erans risking their lives. Their lives, damnit. And some local so called gov- ernment thinks they have the right to take away the rights of veterans -- but all of us have lost. We have lost the right to make our own decisions that matter to each individual. As a matter of interest how many smoking police do we have? How much does this cost? Do they have' to get a warrant to go into -- say the Legion? The anti-smokers think everyone is the same. My father was a smoker -- he died at just under 90. My relatives lived to a good age -- many were smokers. But now it seems everyone will die very quickly from smoke. Does anyone think that is true? As I said before I do not like smoking -- so what? Does that give me the right to stop everyone else? I don't think so. No wonder people don't vote. Why bother? 'Lock your car,' warns Acton woman One Acton resident has a special reason for warning drivers to lock their vehicles. Dorothy Rognvaldson told The New Tanner she parked her car on a Church St. parking lot last week while attending a TOPS ses-. sion. She locked her car but had to return for something. and forgot to lock it the sec- ond time. When Dorothy returned to the car it had been rifled and her cell phone was missing. She was able to cancel her air time but was anxious to warn drivers to lock their cars even if they are only away from them for a short time.
