Unfortunately, every year your Halton Regional Police services re- ceives numerous calls about the theft of bicycles. A little research reveals that the majority of the stolen bicycles had not been locked or stored securely. To further compound the problem, many people have no idea of the make, model & serial number of the bicycle. Oftentimes a stolen bicycle is left abandon in another part of town and eventually it ends up in the police departments Found Property room. Please take a few minutes, right now, to write down the make, model, colour and serial number for your bicycle. Better yet, have some- one take a photograph of you and your bike, then write the informa- . tion on the back of the photograph. Identification is an important first step to assist your police depart- ment in returning your bicycle, if it's ever lost or stolen. Purchase a quality lock for your bicycle and make it a habit to use the lock. Bicycle theft is usually a "'spur- of-the-moment" type of crime. Do not provide a thief with easy pickings, lock your bicycle. Lock it or lose it. 254 Main St. N Acton, ON. L7J 1W9 Tel (519) 853-3410 Fax (519) 853-5052 Ox(FORD Skills for Success, Lessons for Life!
