Police said anyone caught damaging election signs could be charged with mischief to property. UNHOLY HEIST A wallet containing cash and credit cards was stolen from a volunteer working at a kids' clothing sale at St. Alban's Church on Saturday. Police said the wallet was taken from the victim's purse that was left behind a desk where she was working. PEEPING TOM Police are looking for a mid- dle-aged white male who fled from a Church Street backyard at 10 p.m. on Saturday after being spotted by the home- owner. Police said the homeowner caught the man standing in her backyard and looking through her living room window. The man fled the area after POLICE/ FIRE REPORT being discovered. He is approximately 40 years old, 5'7", with a shaved head. He was wearing a leather coat and cowboy boots. BIKE STOLEN An unlocked boy's blue "Next" bicycle was stolen from the bike rack at McKenzie Smith Bennett School between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. last Wednesday. CONSTRUCTION THEFT Construction equipment valued at $1,300 was stolen from a framing sub-contractor working on the Devon Place subdivision, south of Highway 7 on Tanners Drive, between May 22 and 24. Police said five aluminum saw horses, two 100-foot ex- tension cords and three blue air hoses, left unlocked at the job site over the weekend, were stolen. THEFT FROM VEHICLE A cell phone and two brief- cases, valued at $100, were stolen from an unlocked van parked at a Frederick Street resi- dence overnight May 23/24. GRASS FIRE Kids playing with fireworks may have caused a large grass fire in the sand dunes behind Elmore Drive that was re- ported at 4:58 on Sunday afternoon. Fire officials say youth were seen leaving the area when fire crews arrived. At 5:30 p.m., firefighters from Georgetown were dis- patched to standby at the Churchill Road station while Acton crews continued to deal with the grass fire, which police are investigating. GARAGE FIRE A fire in a garage on the Fifth Line, north of 32 Side Road, did an estimated $80,000 damage before it was brought under control by Acton firefighters just before 3 p.m. on Sunday. When crews arrived they found smoke billowing from all of the detached garage openings, but were able to battle their way into the ga- rage and put out the fire. Two cars and two snowmobiles were burned in the blaze. POSTPONE THEATRE Th e Acton Old Town Hall Theatre group has postponed the 'dinner theatre night planned for Saturday, june 12, until the fall. The cast decided to postpone it until the fall so more patrons could attend. Tom and Lois Walker .... Continued from page 8 Tom and Lois sold their home on Highway 7 and pur- chased a farm on Highway 25. The house is over 100 years old and was originally a log cabin. When they decided to enlarge it Tom dug the foun- dation himself, and the attractive fireplace was built from stones they found on the property. Daughter Cindy and her husband Dave purchased the farm from them. Tom and Lois have an apartment in the house, and Tom likes to help occasionally with the horses. Cindy breeds and shows quar- ter horses. Lois and Tom often can be found at the Acton Centre. Lois is on the Friday Lunch committee and Tom helps set up. He also helps with the Bingo assisting whenever they need him. They are both on the social committee which plans, works at, and organizes the monthly special evenings which usually consist of a themed meal and appropriate entertainment. They also sit on the public relations committee. Lois says she "just loves it." Although they purchased a trailer in Port Elgin, they still plan on assisting every Friday with lunches and are always available when help is needed. They are both busy people who still find time to help make other people's days more enjoyable and fun.
