BLACK BELTS: Dan McNeil and Chris Rogers recently were awarded Black Belts in Jiu Jitsu -Submitted Photo Acton Jiu Jitsu has two new Black Belts Sensei Linda Bromley and members of Acton Jiu- Jitsu are proud to announce the club's newest black belts: Dan McNeil and Chris Rogers. The Canadian Jiu-Jitsu Association held its 2004 black belt grading at the dojo of Sensei Linda Bromley, Acton Jiu-Jitsu, on May 9. Sensei Bromley, a mem- ber of the examining board for Canadian black belts, attests to the intensity and difficulty of the test im- posed upon Dan and Chris. "They did amazingly well and I am proud to an- nounce that they are promoted to the rank of "Shodan", Black Belt, First Degree," she said. Sensei McNeil and Sensei Rogers are instruc- tors at the Acton dojo and integral parts of the club. Dan is a resident of Georgetown and has been attending Acton Jiu-Jitsu, along with his children Rory and Kayleigh, since Oct. 2, 2001. Dan came to the club already holding black belts in Karate and Judo and now is the proud holder of a Jiu-Jitsu black belt. He is the head instruc- tor for the grappling program at Acton Jiu-Jitsu. Chris is a resident of Rockwood and has been attending the club since Jan. 6, 2001. His first three months membership were a Christmas gift from his wife, Carol. He stayed. Chris arrived with a strong background in Kung Fu which has served him well with his Jiu-Jitsu training. He has become the head instructor for the Sparring Program at Acton Jiu-Jitsu. "Each of these gentle- men is a fine role model and example of excellence for our students, children and adults, to emulate," says Sensei Bromley. Sensei Bromley was also tested at the May 9 grading and has been pro- moted to "Yodan" black belt 4 degree. Formal presentation of her new rank by the CJA will fol- low at a later date. -More sports on page 19 : McDonald's Rookies take Milton 8-6 Acton McDonald's rookie team played hard and came out on the win- ning end of an 8-6 score against Milton 2, who made the contest close in the fi- nal inning, on May 26.
