Acton High honours Achievers By FRANCES NIBLOCK The New Tanner A Silver medal winning ar- chitectural student, students who produce the year book, run the student council and several students who "pulled up their socks" this semester were among the 38 students honoured at a recent Acton Achievers breakfast at Acton High School. "This is a very special event because it gives us the chance to recognize students who perhaps could be recognized in other ways, but perhaps not as well," retiring principal Greg MacPherson told the crowd of student awardees and a large crowd of their proud parents. The awardees include: Technical students Mark Boycott -- Silver medal winner in mechanical CADD (computer-aided drafting and design), and a fourth place in architectural CADD at the Halton Skills Competition Angela Henderson -- Bronze medal winner in ar- chitectural CADD competition at the Halton Skills competition Kasimir Kosakowski -- Silver medal in mechanical CADD at the national skills competition, Gold medals in provincial and Halton skills competitions Matthew Locke -- earned a Gold medal in architec- tural CADD in the Halton competition and a Silver medal at the provincial level Vince Zmija -- described by his teacher as having a "bit of a checkered past" in Eng- lish class, Zmija was recognized for his dedication, perserverance and consistent attendance resulting in much improved work this semester Communications students Nathan Bowen and Kyle Williams -- competed in the The 'Hot Dog Lady" Congratulates ie Graduates Have a vale and fun. filled summer!
