The area has been transformed mainly by the work of John and Marg Creasey of the Acton Horticultural Society while Citizen of the Year Max MacSween, society president, has also achieved another transformation along the creek bed and further banks with indigenous wetland plants. They've also done another transformation on the new entrance to the Eliza- Halton approves Strategic Plan Halton Regional Council approved Halton's 2004-2006 Strategic Plan on July 14, concluding a five-month process that included council workshops, a town hall session and public consultation. Halton's new Strategic Plan focuses on four major themes -- Managed Growth, Eco- nomic Prosperity, Services to People and Effective Halton Region. "While building on Halton's past suc- cesses, the new plan sets out Council's vision and priorities for this term and be- yond," said Regional Chairman Joyce Savoline. "The plan's themes reflect Coun- cil's commitment to maintaining our high quality of life for all citizens of Halton. The Plan recognizes the importance of manag- ing growth in an environmentally and financially responsible manner, and the need to provide a strong public health and social services infrastructure while remain- ing fiscally accountable." As part of an ongoing process, perform- ance measures will be developed and reported on regularly to Regional council and the public. Regional staff will also con- tinue to develop strong linkages between the Strategic Plan, Standing Committee Operational Plans, the Region's annual Budget and Business Plan and departmen- tal work plans. "The Strategic and Operational Plans will guide the work of the Region and provide direction to staff in meeting the opportuni- ties that lie ahead," said Brent Marshall, CAO, Halton Region. "I look forward to continuing our work toward achieving the goals and actions set out in the Plans." The 2004-2006 Strategic Plan and the 2004-2005 Operational Plans will be avail- able on the Region's website at www.region.halton.on.ca. beth Drive Rotary Park from Main St.. OPP uncover pot grow on Eighth Line, Erin Officers from Wellington OPP responded to a 911 call at a residence on the Eighth Line of Erin on Monday, July 19 at 2:16 a.m. There was no answer at the door, so police entered the residence to dis- cover a small marijuana grow operation inside. Thirty-five plants were seized along with some hydroponic grow equipment. The hydro had also been altered. Total value of the marijuana seized is es- timated at $35,000. The occupant was arrested when he returned to the residence. Timothy R. Turner, 44 of Erin, was arrested and faces charges of Production of Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana. He was held in custody pending a bail hear- ing at.Guelph Court the same morning. BREAK AND ENTER Sometime between 6:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Mon- day, July 19, unknown suspect(s) broke into a resi- dence on the Ninth Line of Erin Township.- The suspect(s) gained entry by forcing open the rear door and once inside, they re- moved a quanity of cash, jewellery, a camera and a laptop computer.
