THURSDAY, AUGUST 5, 2004 THE NEW TANNER 1 Pie eating contest, other entertainment highlight of this year's festival August may signal the end of summer to many, but to Actonians August is the time to pull out all the stops to celebrate the huge downtown street party, that's absolutely free -- The Leathertown Festival! This year, the 13" an- nual festival promises to provide lots of live enter- tainment, shopping galore, all kinds of neat stuff for the kiddies, great food and a chance to just come out and enjoy the community. Take a look at some of the events that are planned: the main stage at Mill and Main has a com- plete line-up of entertainment all day long including our very own Acton Citizens' Youngsters NEW Children Band and the Beirdo Brothers. The Kids' Stage at the Alexanian Carpets parking lot will be entertained by The Dance Inn and The Ben Show just to name a few. And strollers through the downtown will be ser- enaded by a whole variety of Buskers, to suit all ages. If you've got children who boast good appetites, you may want to bring them down to the Second Annual Pie Eating contest held in the Kids Zone at 4:10 pm. And the winners receive, what else -- more food!
