THURSDAY, AUGUST 26, 2004 THE NEW TANNER 11 Fall Registra sor 4 ACTON SENIORS' RECREATION CENTRE By Jute Conroy Last week's Bid Euchre was well attended and the Mooner was Elma Braida. The 50/50 Draw was won by Jeanne Burke; congratula- tions Jeanne. Anyone interested in play- ing Bridge, please sign up on the appropriate sheet at the front desk. We have some players really interested in playing, but we still need a few more people to be able to start in September. The next trip to Rama is on Wednesday, September 29. If you would like to go please call Ruth at 853-5124. There is another trip planned to Niagara Casino on Wednesday, Sept. 15 and the cost is $23; that includes the driver's tip and a $15 voucher for use at the casino during the five hour stay. If you are interested in a more scenic trip you can go on a Mystery Trip in "Search of the Red Leaf" on Thursday, October 14 trav- elling around Ontario enjoying the "Fall Colours" in our beautiful countryside. It includes a luncheon cruise, and a stop at a market. The coach leaves at 8:15 and re- turns around 6:30 p.m. For more information on the two trips mentioned above, either check out the front desk, or contact Betty or Barb at 853-5951. All those celebrating a birthday in August or Sep- tember, don't forget the Birthday Tea on Tuesday, September 14 at 2 p.m. As always you are welcome to bring a friend. We are very busy at the moment planning the Open House the week of Sept. 13 -- Friday, Sept. 17. We hope to see lots of old and new members there. There is a schedule of the events at the front desk, so drop in and pick one up. We will be holding demonstrations of all the activities held at the centre during the week on their regular days, and the final event on the Friday will be acorn roast at noon, fol- lowed by Bingo. Don't forget you need a ticket (there is a limited supply) and they are also available at the desk. It is free for members, and non-members are $8. On the menu are cold meats, salads, corn and to end the meal, delicious Ap- ple Blossoms. We are hoping to see some new faces, and reacquaint ourselves with some old friends who have maybe no attended the centre for a lit- tle while. Don't forget without your interest and participation the Centre can't expand or develop new interests and programs. E-mail registrations for Town recreation programs Residents will soon be able-to register for Recrea- tion programs from the comfort of their home, of- fice, local library or community centre. Com- mencing December |, the first phase of a new internet and telephone reg- istration service will commence, starting with Aquatic Learn to Swim, Advanced Life Saving and leadership programs only. These methods are in ad- dition to the current registration methods in- cluding drop-off, fax or mail-in. A full implementation involving most other de- partment programs will take place in the Spring of 2005.
