Respect for one's neigh- bours works two ways. The person who lets his cat roam free quite probably has suffered disrespect from his neighbours by way of loud music, bark- ing dogs or any number of other annoyances. The point being that when one lives in close proximity to others annoyances can be expected and tolerance is in order. It is a rare person who has not irked a neigh- bour in one way or another. Real respect involves tol- erance for habits and preferences that conflict with our own. It is funny to hear cat complaints from people who claim in the next Hey Everybody!
