If you have a burning desire to be on stage or to use your special skills behind the scenery, this is your chance. A group of local people, including Mark Tiller and Kathy Sanford, are looking for other interested people to help establish this group. Everyone is welcome and experi- ence is not necessary. More than just actors are required to bring a production to life; people interested in direct- ing, set design and construction, costumes, sound, lighting, props, publicity, marketing and administration are also needed. The fledgling group will be presenting its third produc- tion, "A Night in the Theatre," together with a buffet dinner on October 30, at the Old Town Hall Centre, 19 Willow St. North. Previous productions included a merry medi- eval feast and a lively murder mystery evening, which were greatly enjoyed by the audience, as they participated in a pub sing and used their detective skills to discover the identity of the murderer. If you think you have the mak- ings of a star (on or off stage) come out and join the group. There will be a meeting organized in November for any- one interested in getting involved. WOLFFo VELOCITY PLUS MP Chong not impressed with Throne Speech Wellington-Halton Hills MP, Michael Chong, was disappointed in the govern- ment's Throne Speech. "The Throne Speech lacked specifics, especially regard- ing the Liberal promise to transfer the gas tax to mu- nicipalities It's so vague as to be almost meaningless," Chong said. "This gas tax promise was made before the election, during the election, and af- ter the election. Not only that, it's the second Throne Speech where it's been mentioned . Still we have no specifics for cash. The gov- ernment has got to stop talking and start delivering on these promises to ad- dress the infrastructure - deficit. In Wellington -- Halton Hills, we've got bridges closed and roads in dire need of repair. The time for action is now." Chong added that specific details are important be- cause," Municipalities need to know now how much gas tax they are going to receive next year as they start budg- eting for 2005." Another concern of his is that, "We are moving from specifics to generalities. During the election the Lib- erals promised 5 cents per litre of the gas tax. In the Throne Speech this week the Liberals are now talking of a " portion" of the gas tax." He added "I hope this doesn't mean the Liberals are backing away from their promise."
