Robert Hess of Terra Cotta was ordered to pay a $3,000 fine in Milton court Wednesday. The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) reports staff inspected the property twice in 1999 and notified Hess that several items including fencing, gates, setbacks and signage didn't meet the standards. Hess filed a compliance report but had not made the necessary changes. Under the Aggregate Resources Act the quarry licensee must file a yearly report to the province showing compliance with the conditions on the license and the site plan. All licensed sites must post a sign at the main entrance indicating the property is licensed. Gravel pit owner hit with $3,000 fine
