Fourth trip as mission staff member Craig heading for Canada Games Local-area resident Christine Craig, the head of guidance at Mayfield Secondary School, has once again been selected part of Ontario's mission staff for the Canada Games. The Canada Games are held every two years alternating between summer and winter, with the next Games scheduled for Whitehorse Yukon from Feb. 24 to March 10, 2007. This is the fourth consecutive Games that Craig has been on the mission staff, which is a volunteer position. Competition is fierce for the positions and Craig took a leave of absence for the second semester of 2007 from her position with the Peel Board of Education to improve her chances. Each member of the mission staff is assigned a sport, or sports and is responsible for helping the athletes and coaches be at their best with no concerns other than competing. Craig has previously gone to the 2001 Summer Games in London, the 2003 Winter Games in Bathurst N.B. and the 2005 Games in Regina. Each of the 14 members of the mission staff will find out which sports they've been assigned in March of this year. Craig was a longtime volleyball coach in Peel region, helping to found the Peel Selects women's club team. Winging it in Cooksville Mighty fine contributions Four Georgetown residents starred for the Erin Mills Mighty Eagles under-11 girls' rep soccer team that won the recent 2006 Oakville Full-Field Championship. The Mighty Eagles team outscored the competition at the eight-team elite-level tourney 8-0 on their march to the title. In game one, Georgetown's Bronwen Catling and Courtney Chambers each scored a goal on route to an easy 4-0 Erin Mills victory. Brianna Ananthan assisted on the winning goal, as the Mighty Eagles defeated Etobicoke. 2-0, and in a close semi-final match against Ajax United, Caylee Brydie scored the lone goal on an excellent individual effort from a free kick to claim a 1-0 victory. Chambers, who won the Golden Boot Award as top scorer, potted the championship winning goal as she neatly converted a corner kick and the Mighty Eagles defeated the Lady Eagles in the final 1-0.
