Valentine's Dance tonight at the legion Georgetown Legion, 127 Mill St. hosts a Valentine's Dance, upstairs tonight (Feb. 10). Everyone is welcome. Nascar 2006 Datona 500 will be held at the legion starting at noon, Sunday, Feb. 19 (not the 18th as previously published). Everyone is welcome. Cost is $5 and includes lunch and snack, pool, 50/50 draw. Bar will be open. Honours and Awards and Initiation Night will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18. We need the information. --By Judy Oerlemans Georgetown Legion news Mark your calendar for Georgetown Seniors'AGM So much for Ontario's Wiarton Willie and Shubenachadie Sam from Nova Scotia, two of the groundhogs that predicted an early spring. I guess after the weekend we should go with Pennsylvania's Punxsutawney Phil, who saw his shadow and gave us the nod for six more weeks of winer. All right, so it is six more weeks until the first of spring. This is my last chance to remind you of the annual general meeting to be held following lunch on Tuesday, Feb. 21. We should all plan to attend, if not for lunch, at least for the meeting to begin at 1:30 p.m. You must have a 2006 membership to be eligible to vote for new board members. A good reason to renew your membership as soon as possible. Someone told me the other day that they did not drive and could not get to the centre. I guess some have forgotten that if you wish a ride to the centre all you have to do is phone a day ahead to make arrangements for a ride. Use the service. I know there are a multitude of members in the Georgetown Seniors Centre just waiting to express their various talents. Now I have the opportunity for you! The Drama Club is once more preparing for their Variety Night in June and would be overjoyed to hear from you to get a spot on the program. Don't be shy. Step up to the plate. Would you like to "parle en francais"? You can join Roland Lobb as he takes you into Conversational French for eight weeks beginning Tuesday, Feb. 28, 1:302:30 p.m. I was talking to a couple of members of the Program Committee and they are very anxious to have any suggestions for activities that you may have. Variety keeps the centre alive. That variety comes from you. Share your ideas with any member of the program committee. They need your input. North Halton Rides provides transportation for seniors and people with disabilities in north Halton. To use it call the Red Cross, 905-875-1459.
