Clarence Gough to lead Georgetown Seniors Centre The annual general meeting was held Tuesday, Feb. 21 following lunch. About 130 members were in attendance. All committee reports were approved. A vote was required for board members as two nominations were received from the floor. J D. Hewitt, Burt Hutchinson, George Ohashi, Neville Palmer, and Alice Wilson were added to the board as a result of the vote. Congratulations to all. Congratulations to Clarence Gough, the new president of the Georgetown Seniors Centre. First vice-president is George Chadwick and second vp is John Daley. A suggestion was made from the floor that the annual report be available to members a week before the AGM. The next major event at the Centre is the Fund-raising Dinner on Saturday, March 25, with a Roast Beef dinner at 5:30 p.m. Tickets, $18 are on sale now on a first-come, firstserved basis. After March 13 tickets will be sold to non-members. There are two upcoming shows at the Sanderson Centre in Brantford. The first on March 29, is music from the Lawrence Welk Show and on Tuesday, April 6, the music of the Irish Rovers. See Grant at the Travel Desk. Happy St. David's Day, on March 1, to all our Welsh members and friends. He is the Patron Saint of Wales. I was told at the luncheon that he comes before St. Patrick. OK. I'm not getting into that argument. I just report the facts. Memoir Writing class begins again on Friday, March 3 to April 7, from 911 a.m. This is an opportunity to write your memories of your past to share with your family. Please register at the front desk. I heard the other day that there are approximately 10,000 seniors in Halton Hills and of this number only about 1,000 are members at the Centre. One has to wonder why so few. Have you come out to find what we are all about or are you in denial. Come out to the Georgetown Seniors Centre. Get involved! Make new friends! Share in the good times! -By Florence Riehl, Georgetown Seniors Centre
