Heritage Day features Acton Town Hall In celebration of Heritage Day, the Halton Region Museum announces a special presentation, Cultural Gathering Spots of 19th Century Halton, from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, February 26. "To tie in with this year's national Heritage Day theme of cultural heritage buildings, we chose to focus on a number of buildings that were important community "hotspots" during the 1800s," explained Nancy Field, Halton's Manager of Heritage Services. "We'll explore the stories that these buildings hold--for example we'll try to imagine the excitement of a 19th century patron viewing a moving picture show for the first time at Acton Town Hall. Often they would stay to watch the same show consecutively six or seven times as the phonograph played on." The Halton Region Museum is located inside of Kelso Conservation Area in Milton at the base of the Glen Eden Ski Hills. Admission and parking are free.
