Heritage Day features Acton Town Hall In celebration of Heritage Day, the Halton Region Museum announces a special presentation, Cultural Gathering Spots of 19th Century Halton, from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, February 26. "To tie in with this year's national Heritage Day theme of cultural heritage buildings, we chose to focus on a number of buildings that were important community "hotspots" during the 1800s," explained Nancy Field, Halton's Manager of Heritage Services. "We'll explore the stories that these buildings hold--for example we'll try to imagine the excitement of a 19th century patron viewing a moving picture show for the first time at Acton Town Hall. Often they would stay to watch the same show consecutively six or seven times as the phonograph played on."
