Acton Cancer Society gears up for annual campaign The Acton branch of the Canadian Cancer Society hosts its Campaign Kickoff and Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on Wednesday, March 29 at 6 p.m. All canvassers, volunteers, including drivers, knitters, daffodil salespersons are invited to attend dinner and meet their fellow canvassers at Knox Presbyterian Church, 44 Main St. N. in Acton. Mayor Rick Bonnette and local councillors have been invited for the dinner and campaign kickoff. Door prizes will be drawn during the proceedings and entertainment will be provided. The Acton branch is looking for interested volunteers to canvass in Acton at various locations. Anyone wishing to join in as a volunteer can call Liz Bailey, 519-853-0585. It's also time for the Canadian Cancer Society's Daffodil Days! Look for daffodil sellers around Acton from Thursday, March 30 to Saturday, April 1st. Pick up a bunch for $6. Tickets to attend the event are $40 per person, which includes lunch while you listen to motivational speaker, Paul Rosen. Rosen is the goalie for the Canadian Paralympic Sledge Hockey team-- and now a gold medal champion after just returning from competing in the 2006 Paralympics in Turin, Italy.
