Crop for Cancer is 12-hour marathon scrapbooking event Plus auction, raffles For the fourth year running, local scrapbookers will gather for a 12-hour scrapbooking marathon tomorrow (Saturday, April 22) to raise money for Cancer Assistance Services of Halton Hills (CAS-hh). Crop for Cancer, hosted by the Scrapbook Studio in Georgetown, has donated more than $30,700 to CAS-hh to date. Organizers hope this year's event at Knox Church will surpass their 2005 total of $15,200. The sold-out crop will host 48 participants who have each gathered pledges in advance. From 9 a.m. to 9 pm, croppers will scrapbook their own family memories, participate in games and enjoy make and take projects. Along with the public, they can support the gourmet cookie sale (1-4 p.m.), the Recipes for CAS-hh raffle (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and the silent auction (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). The silent auction includes a wide variety of items, both scrapbooking and non-scrapbooking, donated by generous local businesses and scrapbook suppliers. Donations to CAS-hh will be accepted and raffle tickets available at the Scrapbook Studio (102 Main Street South) leading up to tomorrow's event. Call 905-7028140 for more details. All-you-can-eat breakfast tomorrow Georgetown Seniors host pancake breakfast FLORENCE RIEHL Georgetown Seniors Centre Hurray! Spring has finally arrived. Daffodils and tulips are popping up. Golf clubs are in the car ready for my first game. Gardeners are out getting ready for the new plantings. People are smiling. The world seems right again. On April 11, June Gilson and Alice Wilson, along with their lunch team, served up a fine feast of ham, mashed potatoes, peas and carrots, and fruit cap. This April Showers luncheon was completed by the return of the ladies from "Sunset Lodge" parading their own Easter hat designs to the accompaniment of Edith Klee on the piano. They closed their show with Marilyn Broadfield singing The Easter Parade. I have heard that the ladies may be thinking of going into their own millinery business. Tomorrow (Saturday) is the All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast. What a way to treat the whole family to a scrumptious breakfast for $5 (children 12 years and under, $3). My mouth waters at the thought of all those pancakes and maple syrup and sausages. I know I will be there. How about you? This breakfast is open to the public. Another reminder that the Annual Yard Sale has been moved to Saturday, May 3, from 8 a.m. to noon. This is your opportunity to get rid of unused and unwanted items by donating them to the Centre. They have one request that you do not include clothing or shoes. All proceeds benefit the Georgetown Seniors Centre. Congratulations to the winners of the Bid Euchre, in first place, Russ Kowalchuk and Lorne Hammond, second place to Sandra Brownlee and Annette Francescetti, third place to Jim Akers and Jo Primus, and fourth place to Gratia Hillier and Norah Emery. These winners now move on to the next level. Good luck to you all. Keep in mind that the coffee is always on at the Georgetown Seniors Centre. Imagine there is still a place where you can get a coffee for 50 cents plus a cookie. Come out to the Georgetown Seniors Centre. Get involved! Make new friends! Share in the good times!
