Flags among friends As part of the informal friendship exchange between the Town of Halton Hills and the Town of Ermelo in The Netherlands, Tom Schenk, Georgetown Citizen of the Year for 2005, was joined by Martin Boomsma (in back, from left)) Wellington-Halton Hills MP Michael Chong and Halton Hills Mayor Rick Bonnette as he raised the flag of Ermelo at the Halton Hills Civic Centre Tuesday. The friendship exchange was made last year during the Keeping the Memory Alive Tour at which time Schenk represented the Town and exchanged flags with the mayor of Ermelo. The flag-raising ceremony was held on April 18 in observance of the date, April 18, 1945-- 61 years ago-- when Ermelo was liberated by the Allies. Photo by Ted Brown
