Legion helps out Georgetown Legion Branch 120 members (from left) vice-president Tom Gregory, president Wade Bond, Doug Weir, Bennett Centre administrator Walter Sguazzin and Bill Shields joined with Bennett Centre resident Chuck Roe, for the recent presentation of a $7,200 cheque. The funds, donated on behalf of the Royal Canadian Legion Ontario Provincial Command Branches and Ladies' Auxiliaries Charitable Foundation, will be used at the Bennett Centre to purchase new electric hospital beds, replacing manual ones. The beds cost $1,849 each and 28 have been purchased through donations to date. The Bennett Centre requires 33 more beds to benefit all residents. Photo by Ted Brown Police blotter Local man charged after fleeing from police A Georgetown man is facing charges after police were called to a bush party in the Chelvin Dr. and Flamingo Crt. area early Saturday morning. Police report while they were escorting an intoxicated man out of the bush he screamed obscenities at officers and ran away. The man was located approximately 45 minutes later and arrested by police. Charged with being intoxicated in a public place and escaping from lawful custody is Shane Rego, 18, of Forsyth Cr. ··· Police are asking for help from the public in identifying the youths responsible for pulling a stop sign out of the ground at Faludon Dr. and Delrex Blvd. Saturday evening. A passerby spotted two males and two females trying to pull the sign out of the ground at approximately 10 p.m. He said after realizing they were being watched the youths left the sign lying on the ground and fled on foot in the direction of Mountainview Rd.
