FoodShare shelves stocked Arlene Humphreys of the Acton FoodShare stocks the shelves at the food banks' new location in the Prosperity One plaza, in the end unit directly across the street from the Churchill Road fire station. The annual food drive on the weekend brought in approximately 6,400 lbs. of food and helped re-stock the shelves at the new location as volunteers make the move from the former location on Mill Street. An additional $500 in cash was collected by scouts, guides and Calvinist cadets during the drive. Photo by Ted Brown School board, substitute teachers reach deal The Halton District School Board has a tentative contract with its substitute teachers at the secondary level. Financial details of the pact have not been announced but it is a four-year agreement retroactive to September 2004 and expiring in September 2008. The deal was reached April 20. Public board trustees voted in favour of it at a meeting Wednesday while the union membership holds its ratification vote May 11. The Halton Secondary Occasional Teachers represent more than 300 substitute classroom instructors. "I believe the membership will be pleased with the agreement reached with the board because it addresses many of the priorities set by the membership for this round of negotiations," said Tom Beer, chief negotiator for Halton's secondary occasional teachers. Halton's nearly 800 public elementary occasional teachers ratified a new four-year contract earlier this month.
