Halton Police are investigating a report of a suspicious man who approached two girls as they were walking to St. Francis of Assisi School Friday morning. Police say the girls were approached by a man they didn't know at approximately 8:45 a.m. near St. Andrew's Church. The man offered to carry their bags, the girls politely declined and continued toward the school. The man walked quickly and approached the girls a second time and persisted to ask if he could carry their bags. The girls became nervous and immediately left and reported the incident to a teacher on duty when they arrived at the school. It was reported the man loitered in the area of the school for several minutes after his exchange with the girls. Police checked the area, but couldn't find the man. He is described as white, approximately 50 to 60 years old, 5'6" to 5'10", slim build with grey hair with white patches. He was wearing a blue-grey coat, green shirt, navy pants and white shoes. Witnesses or anyone with information regarding the incident are asked to call police at 905-878-5511 ext. 2105 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. Young's Pharmacy & Home Services Charges laid in home invasions A man is facing several charges in connection with two home invasions in Georgetown last weekend. Halton Police report both incidents occurred at the same home on John St. In the first incident a man armed with a claw hammer forced his way into the home and threatened the male resident while preventing him from leaving. He then left the home. A short time later the man returned to the home, again forcing his way inside and destroyed several pieces of property in the apartment before leaving. Police say the incidents were not random acts as the victim and suspect were acquaintances. As a result of the police investigation a man attended the Georgetown police station Tuesday and was arrested. Charged with two counts of break and enter, two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of forcible confinement and mischief to private property is Kyle James Fendley, 22, of no fixed address, formerly of Georgetown. The Town would also like to recognize the seventeen schools that participated in clean up activities. Each school will be presented with a certificate of appreciation for their contribution to keeping our environment clean and safe.
