Local students win for Vision-ary heritage projects The Halton Region Museum, together with the Halton District and Halton Catholic District School Boards presented Visions Canada Awards to 30 award-winning projects last week. The program is organized by the school boards and the Halton Region Museum. Each year, a committee from each Halton School Board selects the award-winning projects. The projects may be of an artistic or academic nature in either of Canada's official languages, and are assessed on their clarity of expression, creativity, depth, relevance to Canada and independence of student work. Visions Canada was initiated over 25 years ago when the late Catherine McMartin, a Halton teacher, left an endowment for Halton District School Board students. She also bequeathed a number of artifacts to the Halton Region Museum. Halton Catholic District School Board awards are given in honour of Robert O'Brien of Burlington, who has devoted his life to Catholic education in Halton as a board trustee and chair. The S'Cool Life Fund is supported by Priszm Canadian Income Fund, Canadian Satellite Radio, and Scott's Real Estate Investment Trust.
