Novice II 'Dogs tops in Ontario In their first season of field lacrosse, the Halton Hills novice #2 Bulldogs won 11 of the 15 games they played in and capped it off by capturing the Ontario Lacrosse Association novice `C' championship in Kitchener recently. The novice 'Dogs defeated Peterborough, Kitchener and Oakville in the preliminary round and then upended Mimico 6-3 in the final. Submitted photo ATHLETES of the Week CHRIST THE KING ACTON GEORGETOWN DISTRICT DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL HIGH SCHOOL Lawn bowlers celebrate club's new look After receiving a $56,100 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation last year, members of the Georgetown Lawn Bowling Club put that money into refurbishing the Edith Street facility during the offseason, which included a new roof, walkways, floodlights, clubhouse flooring and other equipment. The club recently held its opening bowl of the 2006 season and celebrated in the sparkling new confines, ready for its 100th anniversary next year. Photo by Eamonn Maher Margreta Josipovic JD Hartnagle Mandy Cadger Ryan Burns Kaitlyn Andrews Sherrelle Sheppard Acton High School Athletes of the Week are JD Hartnagle and Kaitlyn Andrews. Both are on the Bearcats track team. Hartnagle finished 21st in senior discus at OFSAA faulting on 2 of 3 throws in the rain, while Andrews won both senior discus and shot put for her 8th OFSAA medal (seven gold and one silver). Georgetown District High School Athletes of the Week are Sherrelle Sheppard and Mandy Cadger. Both are members of the Rebels softball team. Sheppard, a shortstop and pitcher was chosen for her two hits against TAB, while Cadger, and outfielder, was selected for two steals and some awesome catches. Christ the King High School Athletes of the Week are Margreta Josipovic and Ryan Burns. Both were named Jaguars Athletes of the Year. Josipovic played basketball, volleyball, tennis and was on the SAA. Burns played football, basketball and soccer for the school.
