Veteran volunteer honoured Jimmy Valentine, the longest serving volunteer of the Georgetown Fire Department (later Halton Hills), was recently honoured by the Halton Hills Fire Prevention and Protection Services on the occasion of his 91st birthday as he dropped by the hall to visit on practice night. Valentine served from 1938 to 1980, and he reminisced with today's firefighters about firefighting years ago. He joked how he had been on the department for four years when the 1942 Ford fire truck was purchased-- the same antique fire truck that is seen in local parades today. Valentine was honoured with gifts from the Town and the Fire Department, presented by Ward 2 Councillor Bryan Lewis (centre) and Chief Bob Meads. Photo by Ted Brown
