Or do you belong to a group or organization such as Scouts, Guides or Cadets? What's next? Do you just walk away from music and spend the rest of your life talking about the time you had in the school band? Or do you wish to continue with that skill after your time with the band or organization has concluded? Or perhaps you're a little older and have let those skills you acquired in high school become a little rusty but you have always wanted to get back to it. Well, the Band of the Lorne Scots just might have the answer for you. The band is looking for musicians and you might be just the person we are looking for. You do not have to be a member or ever have been a member of any military organization to join us. We have 25 members at the present time, but are growing right now and are looking for more mature new players, age 16 and up. We are a brass and reed bandso any instrument or skill level will be most welcome. Even though the Band of the Lorne Scots is primarily a military band, we play a wide variety of music including popular hit tunes, show music, and of course, military band marches. This is an opportunity to increase your The Band of the Lorne Scots practise for one of their many concerts during the season. Photo submitted repertoire and build on your already acquired skills. We supply some instruments and all uniforms, so all you have to do is come along and enjoy yourself. We practise once a week, 7:30-10 p.m. on Monday nights at the Brampton Armouries on Chapel St. You will have the opportunity to join an enthusiastic and talented group of musicians and play regularly in one of Canada's oldest military bands, participate in parades and reviews in conjunction with such special occasions as Trooping the Colour, state occasions and other high-level functions. We also give concerts at seniors homes as well as social events in the area. So dig out that rusty old horn from the corner of the basement and give us a call. You will have a chance to develop new skills and rise to the heights of musical ability you never thought possible and get excellent music instruction for free. It is a proven fact that deviation from the other mundanely normal activities of life, such as your job, by taking up a hobby that is completely different, can be both rewarding and beneficial. You will, at the same time, be meeting new people and making new friends who have the same interest as you do. As for you older folks, a new pastime can keep you young and develop a whole new learning experience. There is no time like the present, so give us a call.
