Community Calendar Friday, August 25 Rock `N Roll barbecue: Knox Church, Georgetown will hold a barbecue outside the church on Main St. S. at Church St. during the Rock `N Roll Classics Car Show. Bethany fundraiser: Meet celebrity Mike Holmes at Emerald Isle, 265 Guelph St., Georgetown, 3-5 p.m. Enjoy a barbecue and buy tickets to win a free hot tub in support of local girl Bethany Winter. Funds are being raised to make her home wheelchair accessible. Mike will draw the winning ticket at 5 p.m. Trunk/yard sale: at St. John's Church, corner of Trafalgar Rd. and 15 Sideroad in Stewarttown, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vendor space available. Call 905-877-5797. Barbecue and car wash: Cheer Force Flyer cheerleading club of Georgetown is holding two fundraising events, a barbecue in the parking lot beside Guelph St. in front of M&M Meat Shop (Georgetown) and car wash in the parking lot beside Guelph St., just west of the VW dealership, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The fundraising will help the girls get to the U.S. Cheerleading Association nationals in Florida in March 2007. Food bank raffle: The Georgetown Bread Basket will be having mini raffles at the Georgetown Farmers Market. These raffles are donations from the business community of Georgetown. All proceeds will go to the food bank. Euchre: is held every Saturday night at the Hornby Co-operative Nursery School on Steeles Ave. at 7:30 p.m. All welcome. Sunday, August 27 Bruce Trail hike: a 12 km hike in Hockley Valley. Depart at 9 a.m. from the parking lot between Zellers and the medical services building. Bring water/lunch. Bring your gardening gloves, shovel, sun screen and hat and join members of H.O.P.E (Healthy Options for People and the Environment) at Mountainview Rd South and Sargent Rd, Georgetown (across from Wal-Mart) to help bring a beautiful native garden to life!
