Police Safe Start program to concentrate on 5 `S's' In an effort to get drivers to be courteous to each other-- and to children as they head back to school-- Halton Police have launched Project Safe Start. The project kicked off Monday and will run across the region through Friday, September 15. Officers from the Regional Traffic Enforcement Unit and District traffic officers will all be working on the project. Their focus will be on the five "S's:" · Speeding · Seat-belts · Stop signs · School zones · School buses Officers will be focusing on these areas to ensure drivers pay attention to the rules of the road, now and throughout the rest of the year. The project is an ongoing initiative, with the kick-off dubbed "Safe Start." Future initiatives will be "Safe Arrival" and "Safe Return." It is designed to encourage the community complies with the province's legislated driving laws and ensure a safer driving and pedestrian environment for everyone.
