Cooper wins Junior title Winners for each of the four divisions in Kinsmen Girls' Softball were declared last Saturday as the Day of Champs played out with some closelycontested playoff games. Junior Finals Cooper Standard 14, Pictures & Presents 8 Cooper Standard won the championship game with a big effort from the entire team. The game star was Paige Mitchell, who hit a home run and made a great catch in the field. Jessica Tate, Kara Braun, and Shannon Bain all went 2-for-2 and scored two runs each to pace the offence. Pictures & Presents tried their best in their second game of the day. Dawn Bodrug, Emily Walker and Mackenzie Stinson all went 2-for-2 and scored twice each, but that was about all P&P could muster against Cooper's tight defence. Semi-Final Pictures & Presents 16, Softwater Plus 9 Pictures & Presents defeated Softwater Plus in the first game at Saturday's Day of Champs. Brittany Hoekstra, Emily Walker, Mackenzie Stinson, Sydnee Scott and Madie Wilson all went 2-for-2 and scored twice, which helped P&P advance to the finals. Softwater Plus got great hitting from Kyla Fife, who had a threerun homer and an RBI single. Taylor Sheriffs and Rachel Thomsen both went 2-for-2 and scored three runs. Intermediate Finals Young's Pharmacy 18, Delrex Variety 6 Young's capped off an undefeated season with a complete team effort to win this game going away. Leadoff hitter Lacey Hill went 4-for-4 with a single, double, two triples and three runs scored. Mara Daugherty and Brittany Praturlon both hit home runs for the champions. Stephanie Masniuk had three hits and four RBI and Alex Sheriffs and Daugherty also scored three runs each. Delrex couldn't get much going with the bats in this game against Young's tight pitching and defence. Karlee Zammit was 2-for-2 with an RBI single. Susannah McKenzie-Sutter was 1-for-1 with an RBI single, and Emily Albrecht went 2for-3 with a run scored.
