Police blotter Gun pointed at clerk in variety store hold-up Halton Police are looking for a man who attempted to rob a clerk at gunpoint in a Georgetown convenience store Monday evening. At approximately 8:50 p.m. a man entered the Dairy Convenience on Guelph St. and pointed a black handgun at the female clerk and demanded cash. The woman said she didn't have any money and threatened to call police. The man ran out of the store and was last seen running westbound on Normandy Blvd. Police responded with the canine unit and searched the area, but did not find the man. He is described as white, 5'4 to 5'6", 120 to 130 lbs. with a thin build, and wearing a green 3/4-length jacket. ··· An Acton man is facing drug charges after police stopped a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act infraction Sunday afternoon in the Wilbur St. and Bower St. area Sunday afternoon. Police say the officer saw a vial with suspected cannabis resin in the vehicle and during a search of the vehicle pieces of suspected crack/cocaine were found. Charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance is Emmanuel Protopapas, 36, of Rosemary Rd. ··· Halton Police report $7,000 in damage was caused when the wiring for seven street lights on Main St., south of Arborglen Dr. were cut sometime last week. The electrical covers were removed on the lights to cut the wires. ··· An Oakville woman was charged with impaired driving and having over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood after a police officer observed a vehicle make two U-turns and pass by at a high rate of speed on Guelph St. early Saturday morning. Charged is Karen Christie, 35, of Glenada Cr., Oakville. ··· Police report the residents of an apartment on Main St. S. in Georgetown returned home Sunday evening to find a man leaving their front foyer. The man said he was in the wrong apartment. The residents later discovered that $140 was missing. The apartment had been left unlocked. The man is described as white, 5'7", 170 lbs, 35 to 40 years old, and neat-looking. ··· Approximately $1,000 worth of items, including a Pioneer stereo, were taken from a vehicle parked at the Georgetown GO lot on Queen St. Wednesday. ··· Police report a lightning strike is the suspected cause of a fire in an abandoned house on Hwy. 25 in Acton Saturday morning. A loud lightning strike was heard in the area earlier that morning. ··· The next court date for the Acton mother and daughter accused of leaving a 97-year-old relative in a vehicle on one of the hottest days of the summer is September 25. Bonnie Bouclair, 60, and Kimberly Bouclair, 36, were not in Milton court Monday but were represented by a representative of the law firm Daley Byers. The Bouclairs are charged with failing to provide the necessities of life for Phyllis Arnott, who is Bonnie's mother and Kimberly's grandmother.
