Mornings 8:30 ­ 10:00 am Mon. & Wed. nights 7:30 ­ 9:00 pm The new Acton Employee Resource Centre (AERC) located at 45 Mill St., E. will officially open its doors at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning (Sept. 26). The AERC is a resource for job seekers in Acton and area, and will offer a wide range of employment services and workshops. The centre will be open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. The centre will receive funding through Service Canada, and is a program of Links2Care (formerly Halton Hills Community Support and Information). Workshops will include topics such as resume writing, job searching, preparing for interviews and apprenticeships. Individual career counseling will focus on local job market opportunities. There will also be special seminars focused on the older worker, youth entering the job market and on people returning to work after an absence. The AERC includes six workstations, a fax machine, a photocopier, area newspapers and employment postings. It is wheelchair accessible through an alternative entrance, and has equipment suitable for persons with disabilities. The grand opening celebration is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 12 from 2 to 6 p.m., with the ribbon-cutting ceremony set for 2 p.m. Acton lands new doctor Acton has a much-needed new doctor working in town. Dr. Dhana Jayalath has joined Dr. McWilliam and Dr. Alshakarji at the Acton Medical Clinic at 93 Mill St., where she is welcoming new patients.
