Comedy theatre company launches season tomorrow Tomorrow (Thursday)-- the occasion of Castaways Comedy Theatre's premiere production, The Senuous Senator-- a gala performance will benefit Gilda's Club at the John Elliott Theatre. Along with Michael Parker's acclaimed comedy, the evening will feature a small reception at 7 p.m. in the lobby of the John Elliott Theatre, where patrons may enjoy refreshments and entertainment. Most importantly, guests will have an opportunity to bid in a silent auction for some valuable items including tickets to the Gilda's Club annual Variety Show! This year's event features Jann Arden, Bryan Adams, Eugene Levy, Brent Butt, Kim Catrall and Colin Mochrie. The winner of these tickets will receive V.I.P. privileges, including attendance of a cocktail reception, during which they will meet the celebrities from the show. All proceeds from the auction and/or raffle of these and other valuable items will directly benefit Gilda's Club. Castaway's exclusive charity is Gilda's Club of Greater Toronto. Gilda's Club is a wellness organization, offering counseling and support to victims of cancer and their families. Founded by the late Gilda Radner, who succumbed to the disease, the organization continues to follow her method of alleviating pain and misery through the power of laughter! The Senuous Senator will be presented on Thursday, Friday, Oct. 6 and Saturday, Oct. 7, all at 8 p.m. with a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and students.
