Local barbecue team places 50th at world championship in Tennessee Team Cedar Grilling, the 2006 Canadian Open Barbecue champions, didn't fare as well at the Jack Daniel's 18th Annual Invitational Barbecue. The team, consisting of Steve Adams of Ballinafad, Scott Cormier of Acton, Marty Soberg of Burlington and Daryl Maybanks of Guelph, placed 50th overall in the competition held in Lynchburg, Tennessee last weekend and third overall in the International Division. Fifty champion teams from the U.S. and 15 teams from countries across the world including Canada, Switzerland, Poland and Australia, fought for this year's title. There were also 42 teams from the Shade Tree division. The team, which had two family members in Mountie costumes standing at their booth throughout the competition, handed out Canadian flags and pins to spectators. Team Cedar Grilling has been invited to compete next year in Belgium and Puerto Rico.
