Georgetown Seniors Centre schedule AGM FLORENCE RIEHL Georgetown Seniors Centre As we knew, in our heart of hearts, winter did manage to catch up with us. It knocked on our door with an ice storm, closing the Centre for a day on Monday, Jan. 8. Once it got this out of its system, it has really settled down to being winter. Now we are in for slips and falls such as befell our travel man, Grant Greenaway at the Centre last Thursday. He came in the side door and, once on the wet tile floor, down he went. He has a fractured hip and his surgery will be in Brampton. Let this be a warning to all using the side doors to the building. Those floors are dangerous when wet. We all wish Grant a speedy recovery and hope it is not too long before he is back at the travel desk. Please call the front desk to make any inquiries about trips. The Annual General Meeting for the Georgetown Seniors Centre will be held following the luncheon on February 13th. Please come out and exercise your right as a member to vote, if necessary, and show your support and interest in your Centre. You will need your membership card to receive a ballot. Tickets are now on sale for the Valentine's roast beef dinner and dance on Saturday, Feb. 10. Hurry in and pick up your tickets before you are shut out in the cold. Cost is $13 per person. You can trip the lights fantastic to the music of our very own band. This is your time to eat, dance and add your support to your Centre. Bring your friends and make a night of it! Want to take a trip back and learn more about the lives your family experienced? Those who have gone before us have contributed to what our children and we are today. When we learn their stories, we learn more about ourselves. Bernie Bradner and Dave Naylor are offering a course in genealogy to help you learn how to trace your ancestry effectively. This will be a six-week course, 1-3 p.m., starting on Monday, Feb. 19 and running through to March 26 inclusive. There is a cost of $20 to cover handouts and photocopied materials. Please register with the front desk by Feb. 13th. For more details call Bernie at 905-702-0265 or Dave at 905-877-6013. Winter programs are well underway at the Centre. Get involved! Make new friends! Share in the good times!
