Legion Ladies urged to attend important meeting Sunday Volunteers wanted ANN FELKER Branch 120 Ladies Auxiliary There is a very important meeting on Sunday (Jan. 28). Branch 609 Bramalea will be hosting the 2010 Provincial Convention. This seems like a long way off, but there are so many things to be organized, time will pass very quickly. Plans must be discussed and committees must be formed. This is the first meeting and everyone's input is important. The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. and we would like to have as many attend as possible. Everyone's idea is considered important so please come out and voice your opinion. Qualifying for District Darts will be played in Port Credit tomorrow (Jan. 27). If you will be playing, your dues must be paid, and don't forget to take your signed 2007 membership card with you. Let's get caught up on a few things: Our bazaar, held in November, was a great success. I am not going to thank everyone involved but will say a thank you to our convener, Comrade Ev Metler. Winner of the $200 draw from Georgetown Market Place was George Kent, the $50 prize went to Donna Reynolds and Shirley Plant won the basket of groceries. I sure the money and groceries were put to good use, especially at that time of the year. Mike Detoro won the afghan, Amy Hole the jam basket, while Joyce Spicer took home the cookies and serviette holder and last, but by no means least, the poinsettia had Ralph Fletcher's name on the winning ticket. At our December meeting, which was also our Christmas party, we enjoyed a potluck dinner and a visit from Santa. Santa brought one of his elves with him, and everyone got their picture taken with Santa and received a Christmas card. Everyone appeared to have a good time and the potluck meal was delicious. Zone Commander Ethel Eastwood joined us, and told us all it was one of the best meetings to attend (good food, great camaraderie and very little business). In February Zone Euchre is in Milton on Saturday, Feb. 3, Zone Darts in Cooksville on Saturday, Feb. 10 and Zone Cribbage will be played in Oakville on Feb. 24. If you wish to play any of the Zone games, call your Sports Officer and let her know- teams of two players. There is a Zone meeting in Acton on April 29. We would like to see you there. More information will follow in the next column. I would like to say a very cheery Hello to all our sick and shut-ins. We miss you and would like you to know you are thought of often. Our next meeting will be on February 15, see you there! Become a CNIB Annual Crocus Sale volunteer and help raise awareness and dollars to provide assistance to people with vision loss. A few hours of your time between February 3 and February 18 makes a difference which lasts all year.
