Photo by Amber Richmond More sidewalks added to snow-clearing list Halton Hills council approved the addition of seven kilometres of sidewalks to the Town's snow clearing service. The sidewalks are located on portions of roads added as a result of new subdivisions: Tanners Dr. in Acton, Main St. S., Arborglen Dr., Barber Dr. and Mountainview Rd. in Georgetown. According to the Town sidewalk snow-clearing policy, sidewalks are designated for snow-clearing on arterial or collector streets, roads with an annual average daily traffic (AADT) count over 1,000 or roads with a school. Snow-clearing is also provided on sidewalks in walkway blocks with connection to a sidewalk on a collector or arterial road or streets with AADT over 1,000 vehicles. The Town has 197 kilometres of sidewalk and 3.4 kilometres of walkways, and clears 115 kilometres of them. The average cost to provide sidewalk snow-clearing is $1,030 per kilometre. The addition of the seven kilometres will cost the town $6,900. --By Cynthia Gamble, staff writer HAPPY 50TH STEVE Love Mary Lou, Scott, Sean and Stanley.
