YOU AND YOUR PET Rudy is a ruff diamond JUDITH-ANNE KOLU UCHS volunteer Rudy cannot tell us what led up to how he was discovered on the streets, but we know this lovely boy was extremely happy to come out of the cold lonely life into the warmth of the shelter. Sadly no one has come to see him and he has been here since before Christmas. Rudy's ordeal certainly does not appear to have left lasting scars-- he is a sweet, happy young man, but is slimmer than he should be although he is eating as much as he can. Stress is probably the culprit and it also showed at night when he managed to reduce his bedding to little puffballs of cotton, but he is doing much better with towels-- and extra cuddles and attention have helped considerably. Rudy is approximately two years old, with a handsome face. Rudy would love training classes as he is very intelligent, excels at playing ball, fetch and tug. Training would facilitate bonding with his new family. Rudy has a very strong food drive, which would be a major plus for successful training. This boy will definitely do "anything" for a treat! Watching Rudy exercise is a joy and he is in his element running round the tennis courts with the wind in his fur, frolicking and carefree. But when "snacktime" is near this boy needs no leash or instruction to guide him back to his inside pod where he knows his "kong with treat" is waiting. Yummy! Rudy chooses his canine companions but gets on well with most taking into account the unnatural constraints of kennel life. The preschool set would not be ideal for Rudy's new family with his present state of high energy, low manners but adult or teenagers who would enjoy helping with his training would be ideal. A "patient" home is a must, one which will set him up to succeed by having rules, consistency, lots of play and loving and of course those treats! Rudy really enjoys cuddles and the gentle petting that goes with taming a "diamond in the ruff." He hopes you will come out and meet him in person. Only you can make this boy "shine".
