Letters to the editor Bread Basket needs cash donations Dear editor, This past Christmas the Georgetown Bread Basket facility was literally filled with food. During the two weeks before Christmas schools, businesses and individuals dropped off food every time the facility was open. We had to finally ask several schools to hold the food, from their food drives, until the new year so we could make room for it. This is a tribute to the extremely generous people of Halton Hills. Since it was obvious to us that so many people wanted to help, we thought we should advise residents that we also need cash. We are 100 per cent volunteer-operated, both the directors and the weekly volunteers, and there is no financial assistance from the government. We therefore have to have enough cash to pay the rent on Unit 12, 55 Sinclair Avenue, as well as all other up-keeping costs. Cash on hand also allows us to buy particular foods we may run out of. We operate entirely on cash donations or the fundraising activities we plan and carry out. Cash donations of $10 or more receive a tax receipt. People sometimes find it easier to send a cheque, or drop off cash, and we want residents to know they are helping every bit as much with such a donation. Whatever the donation, we are truly thankful you are there, working with us, to feed those in our community who need our help. Marian Viant, Director media co-ordinator Georgetown Bread Basket Credit Valley Artisans appreciated show support Dear editor, I am writing to show my appreciation and to thank all those who came to the cottage to view and purchase work at the Credit Valley Artisans Christmas Show. Thanks, too, to The Independent & Free Press for your support in publicizing our event and helping to make it the success it was. It was good to see our loyal supporters and we noticed many new faces among our patrons this year. Congratulations to Jane Altobelli, Monica Burnside, Evelyn Malone and Denise Graham. These were the four winners of the fundraising raffle which was drawn on November 26. The raffle tickets this year, were completely sold out. Our thanks to all those who bought tickets but were unlucky this time. Your ticket purchases help fund the activities of the four Guilds of the Credit Valley Artisans whose members produce the wonderful array of artwork displayed for sale during this two-day event Frank Anthony, Sales Committee, Credit Valley Artisans, Georgetown Recent show at John Elliott Theatre was `Unforgettable' Dear editor, I feel that thanks are due to Edwards Music International for bringing us one of the most enjoyable evenings one could have had anywhere. The show, Unforgettable, in our own lovely John Elliott Theatre, was one of the greatest we attended for a long time. Before we moved to Georgetown, we used to see shows in Toronto, at about four or five times the price-- some not half as good. Thank you Danny Edwards! You gave us one more reason why we enjoy living here so much. We are looking forward to your next show.
