Tickets on sale for one-woman show In keeping with the Halton Museum Foundation's mandate to promote and support education programs, the Foundation presents Leslie McCurdy's one-woman show that retells the story of Harriet Tubman. Tickets are availabe Wednesday, March 7, 10 a.m. or 12:15 p.m. performances. Born into slavery in Maryland, Harriet Tubman not only ran away to escape slavery, she returned to the south 19 times to lead over 300 other slaves to freedom. On a barren stage with only a trunkful of costumes, the Harriet Tubman story is retold from her early childhood to elder years. Using Harriet's own words, the story takes the audience through her solo flight from slavery, her involvement with the Underground Railroad, her victorious rescue mission during the civil war and her continued commitment to others in later years. The Spirit of Harriet Tubman is a powerful show exploring the life of a heroine and tireless worker for social justice that is a must-see for students and teachers alike. The performance is geared towards students' in Grade 6 and up. With limited tickets remaining, this unique opportunity is now being offered to the general public. The Spirit of Harriet Tubman is one of a number of fundraising events by the Halton Museum Foundation for the second phase of renovations at the Halton Region Museum to provide on-site storage for Halton's entire collection of 35,000 artifacts. Halton Region Museum is located inside Kelso Conservation Area in Milton at the base of the Glen Eden Ski Hills. Metalscape at Canada Blooms Metalscape, Doris Trealeaven's metal art company in Limehouse, has again been commissioned for numerous metal art pieces at Canada Blooms, Canada's largest garden show. The Home Depot display organized by Parklane is featuring her earthy theme with large flying Canada geese, blue heron fishing in the marsh, swimming stainless steel trout and numerous several other pieces. The Ontario Association of Landscape Architects is also featuring `The Egyptian Water Woman' a unique life size outdoor sculpture. Metalscape will be at Booth 28, between March 7-11 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
