Midget Rebels cap season Undefeated in the Halton Midget League this season, the Georgetown Rebels decided to test their court skills against more experienced opponents at a 15-team Junior-level tournament in Brampton last month and ended up capturing the championship title. Georgetown's Grade 9s dominated the preliminary round with match sweeps of Heart Lake, Campion #2, Xavier and d'Youville before knocking off Humberview and Father Goetz in the playoffs to reach the final against Campion #1. It took three sets but the Rebels prevailed 15-11 in the deciding game to claim the gold medals, thanks in part to strong performances by Sarah Chapin, the serving of Sarah Traynor and solid setting from Haley Besworth. Members of the team (front, from left) are: Lauren Sokolowski, Rhianna Malcolm. Middle row: Kendra Blackbourne, Sarah Traynor, Haley Besworth. Back row: Coach Phil Peden, Sarah Chapin, Christie Laidlaw, coach Rich Besworth. Absent: Amanda Cunningham, Jenna Taylor, coaches Ricky Davids, Matt Barker. Submitted photo
