Residents encouraged to share views on library via website survey Halton Hills residents can share their ideas for new services or features they want to see in the new Georgetown library branch via a website survey. Halton Hills Public Library director Jane Diamanti is encouraging residents to complete the survey available at the library's website, www.hhpl.library.on.ca "This is the community's library," she said, adding that she wants to ensure that it is built according to the needs of the community. The existing library branch will be renovated and expanded by about 14,000 sq. ft onto an adjacent Market St. property. This means that the library will double in size. The renovation will also include those spaces shared with the Cultural Centre such as the entrance, lobby, public washrooms and the loading dock area. Coming soon this spring (on a date to be announced), residents will have the chance to meet the Chamberlain Architect Services architects, John Knox and Stephen Blood, and to view and respond to their conceptual drawings. Diamanti will also be introducing the library's firstever interactive "blog" on the website, to post information about the Georgetown branch project as it evolves. Look for this blog in early April. With an almost 50 per cent increase in borrowing activity in the Halton Hills Public Library system since 2000, the increased space is much needed and highly anticipated by both the community and staff. Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2008, with opening of the new Georgetown library branch in early 2010. Alan and Cathy Snelling are overjoyed to announce the marriage of their daughter Robin to Cpl. Chris Wallis son of Chris and Nancy Wallis. Wedding took place September 30, 2006.
