Submitted photo Jaguars win Montreal tourney Although their run in the Halton high school league playoffs didn't last as long as they'd wished, Christ the King's varsity boys' hockey Jaguars completed their season with a victory, winning the championship at a Canadian Hockey Enterprises tournament in Montreal. The Jags, who finished second in the Halton league standings in just their first year of play but were eliminated by Iroquois Ridge in the opening round of playoffs, defeated St. Peter's of Barrie 2-0 in the championship game to take the Lefty Wilson High School Division of the Montreal tourney. Sign up soon for Murr golf tourney The 23rd annual Paul Murr Memorial Golf Tournament takes place on Monday, May 14 at Blue Springs Golf Course in Acton and spots are still available. More than 250 players are expected to take part in the fundraising tournament with all proceeds going to the Acton Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society. Over the 22 years of the tournament just under $600,000 has been raised and this year's goal is to meet or surpass last year's record total of $53,000. There are a variety of packages available for the tournament: A 7 a.m. Turtle Lake package at $150; a 1 p.m. Turtle Lake package at $175 and a 1-5 p.m. Trillium nine-hole package at $100. Sponsorships and /or in memoriams are also available, with gold sponsorships going for $500 and silver at $175. Rinks dominate The Pieta Council 6026, Georgetown, recently sent seven teams to the annual Ontario Knights of Columbus Bonspiel in Midland and Penetang, bringing back a first-place trophy and three runner-up finishes.
