Teammates on the Bearcat badminton team, they placed third in senior girls' doubles at the Volpe Tournament in Oakville, posting a 4-2 record. Having made an impressive showing as Grade 10s at the OFSAA senior championships last year, the duo won't get a chance to repeat their success at the Halton finals as Rowley is moving away to Minden. Christ the King Athletes of the Week are Amy Laidlaw and Mike Sgarbossa. Laidlaw qualified for the Halton senior girls' singles badminton championships by placing sixth at the regionals in Oakville, while Sgarbossa led Christ the King's junior boys' hockey team to a 4-1 victory over Assumption to claim the Burlington Cup tourney title. Georgetown District High School Athletes of the Week are mixed badminton teammates Joanna Meltzer and Mike Weber. The tandem won three of five matches at the regional qualifier in Oakville, placing fourth, and represented the Rebels at the Halton championships this week in Milton.
