18 Acton/Georgetown, Friday, June 22, 2007 Max Bent Band to headline Glen's Canada Day lineup Bluesy rock band, Max Bent Band, will headline the Canada Day entertainment lineup during the annual celebrations in Glen Williams on Sunday, July 1. They are part of a free concert that begins immediately following the opening ceremonies. Also on the bill are songwriter, singer and guitarist Kent McMillan, singer and songwriter Keith Thompson and singer songwriter Ambre McLean. All will perform separately and together. Accessible Main St. store The Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services honoured Young's Pharmacy, with the presentation of the Ontario Mainstreet Accessibility Award for the outstanding sevice provided to customers with disabilities. Young's was one of three Halton Hills businesses that received the Mainstreet Award, with Giant Tiger in Acton and the Shepherd's Crook in Georgetown also accepting recognition for their environment and customer service. NOTICE OF INTENTION TO DESIGNATE UNDER THE ONTARIO HERITAGE ACT The Town of Halton Hills intends to designate the Speyside Royal Oak being an English oak tree as being of cultural heritage value or interest under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act. Description of the Location of the Speyside Royal Oak: The Speyside Royal Oak stands adjacent to the south west corner of the gymnasium of the former Speyside Public School which is located at the 11445 Highway 25, on lands legally described as Part of the West Half of Lot 18, Concession 3 (former Township of Esquesing) and shown as Part 1 on Plan 20R-15522. Statement of Cultural Heritage Value or Interest: The Speyside Royal Oak has a direct association with the residents of this area because it originates from an acorn from the Royal Park at Windsor and was planted by area students in 1937 to commemorate the coronation of His Majesty King George VI. Further information respecting the proposed designation is available for viewing in the Clerk's Department, Civic Centre, 1 Halton Hills Drive, Halton Hills during regular business hours.
