Yup, nobody sued if they got hurt on your property in those days! Remember when Ken Harrison taught music to every public school kid in town? But, if you wanted dance lessons, then you went to Brampton? Remember when your friends' parents worked at Smith and Stone? Domtar? Abitibi? Remember when some families didn't have a car?' Remember Brent Barkhouse playing Classical Gas to perfection? Remember when the Heslop family and the Hyde family had the only two private swimming pools in town? So, did you swim in the creek or at the Paper Mill damn instead? Remember when Glen Williams had the best baseball teams in town...and the tightest-knit families? Remember when Joseph Gibbons was the mayor, not a school? Remember he was about 100 years old when he retired (and even then it was because his car got smashed on the railway track and people said he should retire)? Remember going on the Oxfam walk? Could you walk by the end of it? Remember when the Delrex Plaza was 100% outdoor access only? Remember when that exciting new subdivision with the large houses was built in Moore Park? Remember when Cedarvale Park when it was started as a Centennial project? Remember when it had the Youth Drop In Centre and teens played euchre Marg Helson hanging out on King Street during her high school days. Photo courtesy Marg Helson there and snuck off to smoke questionable substances in the bushes? Did your mother tell you that you couldn't go there either? You do? Then you grew up here in the 1950s and 1960s. Whatever your memories of Georgetown are, you should take part in Homecoming 2007. Register online until midnight today (Wednesday) at www.georgetown2007.ca. Please note that registration packages will not be coming to you by mail.
