Festival mascot will soon have name January More than 300 Oakville children have responded to the Waterfront Festival organizers‘ request to help name the "newborn" Festival mascot. A selection of entries are now on display at Pick of the Crop toys, 245 Lakeshore Rd. E. and at Oakville Place, just east of the Food Court. The Oakville Waterfront Festival‘s mascot will be visâ€" iting Pick of the Crop Toys on Sat., Jan. 16th between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and Oakville Place on Sun., Jan. 17th Car thieves with a preference for Hondas were batting .500 at Oakville Place Saturday night. In the span of two hours, two Hondas were stolen from the mall parking lot while unsuccessful attempts were made to steal to other Hondas. Halton Regional Police say they‘ve received numerous reports of hotwired stolen cars in Oakville in the first two weeks of 1993 â€" parâ€" ticularly in the areas of Oakville Place and the Cross Avenue GO staâ€" tion. Police reported the car was later recovered on Hamilton Mountain after it fled the scene of an accident on the Mountain and was abanâ€" doned in another area of the Mountain, Sunday. Police are still looking for a 1985, twoâ€"door, red Honda with Ontario licence plate 656 LTH worth $5,500 that was stolen during the same period from the Oakville Moen Inc. has kicked in $10,000 to sponsor the June 26th opening ceremonies of the Oakville Waterfront Festival at Coronation Park. There will be skydivers, marching bands, a parade and the huge puppets of the Whole Leaf Theatre Company. The company was also a major sponsor in last year‘s Festival.
