The Honorable Marilyn Churley furâ€" ther reported at the 12th National C o n d o m i n i u m Conference _ last October that she was looking forward to the second reading of Bill 81, although the growing number of revisions being suggested â€" could cause this to be delayed until next spring. Well, as I said before, "Here we go again!", for the latest word on the progress of this long awaited piece of legislation is that it would be withdrawn from the legislative agenda in favor of introducing a new condominium reform bill. In the light of that familiar expresâ€" sion, "It ain‘t over ‘till the fat lady sings", the Fat Lady being the governâ€" ment at Screams Park who must have gotten stage fright. It was only last July when it was reported that she was going to perform and we have been perched on the edge of our seats, ever since then, waiting to hear from her. It appears that she had been hesitatâ€" ingly approaching the footlights, but hadn‘t gotten into her act yet. Earlier in the year â€" by giving Bill 81 a first readâ€" ing in the house â€" the Fat Lady had been practicing a few trills and trying out an arpeggio or two, but it now seems that she has cold feet and has returned to her dressing room to learn a new script. Bill 81 has now been scrapped and the Fat Lady has retired in order to review her lines before perâ€" forming in public. And so as we enter a New Year, maybe we should take the advice of Alexander â€" Pope who, writing to John Gay on October 6th, 1727 said, "Blessed is he who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointâ€" ed."
