Leoâ€"Chem Enterprises Inc., a Winston Road company, will be acting as "agent" for Rochester, N.Y.â€"based companies Terpene Technologies Inc. â€" which developed the process to produce the solvents â€" and Finger Lakes Chemical Inc. â€" the manufacturer of the solvents, said Leoâ€"Chem president Doug Cuss. Cuss, along with representatives of the two U.S. companies, and Town of Oakville officials, including Mayor Ann Mulvale, were on hand to announce Leoâ€"Chem‘s selection at a joint news conference, Monday morning, at the Oakville Municipal Building. A 14.6 per cent increase in car sales last month at Ford of Canada, was not enough to offset a 30 per cent decline in truck sales for January. The result saw the Oakvilleâ€"based company post an overall 6.1 per cent decline in vehicle sales for the month compared to the same period a year ago. Ford officials say there was good news from the sales figures since it marks the second consecutive month where car sales increased over 1992 results. In December, Ford‘s car sales rose 11.9 per cent. "Back to back sales increases of this magnitude suggest a recover in the automobile market may be gaining momentum," said Ted Goellner, viceâ€" pres.â€"general sales. "There‘s pentâ€"up demand ouot there and car buyers have apparently heard the news from Statistics Canada that the recession is over." Goellner said an easing of truck sales last month was expected given the 44 per cent increase in truck sales registered in WANTED!
