Lalonde said a comparison of the two surveys is difficult because Oakville‘s "demographics have changed" since 1986. But he said the survey results are encouraging. Wallace said their was no estiâ€" mate available on how many seniors have been affected by the error. "The problem is not just isolated to Oakville. Oakville is one area that‘s been affected. The original cheques were found weeks later in a government mail room in London after the cheques had already been reâ€"issued to the seniors. The ultimate goal is to have 100% of every shopping dollar spent localâ€" ly. Wallace said anyone who hasn‘t received their Tâ€"4 slip within a few days should call Health and Welfare at 1â€"800â€"263â€"8391. "I‘m amazed they can turn out the duplicates that fast. They‘re going to blanketâ€"cover the issuance of the duplicates. If some individuâ€" als who have already received their Tâ€"4 receive a duplicate they‘re not to worry. They will be clearly marked ‘Duplicate,‘" Wallace said. The department was going to send McLaughlin his Tâ€"4 informaâ€" tion, while a duplicate was being prepared. But those plans were changed when Health and Welfare decided it would be better to issue duplicates of the Tâ€"4s. name, Social Insurance Number and address and faxed the information to the Health and Welfare Canada office in Chatham.
